The principle — a generic answer is usually a precise answer to a vague question, and the fix belongs in the question.
Why the key is correct — Anthropic's guidance to new users is that the more specific your request, the better Claude can assist you. "Better" carries no information: better for whom, achieving what, at what length? Supplying the audience, the goal and the constraint replaces a guess with a brief, and the same guidance recommends refining and asking follow-ups from there.
Why the others are wrong — sending the same vague request repeatedly samples variations of the same guess. Formality is not the shortfall. And a more capable model still cannot infer facts you have not supplied.
The habit worth building is to name the audience, the purpose and the constraint in the first message, then refine from what comes back.
Remember this — before blaming the answer, check whether the question contained enough to answer well.
